Mrs. Mikulka is a recurring employee at Folcroft Sanatorium, the institution that houses CURE’s covert headquarters. The novels later identify her by the given name Eileen. She appears in the office life around Harold W. Smith and the agency’s staff.

[1]

Role at Folcroft

Eileen Mikulka is Harold Smith’s longtime secretary and manages much of Folcroft’s day-to-day work. She routes calls, receives visitors, keeps track of appointments and checks on Smith’s routine; she also brings him coffee and toast each morning because she worries that he does not eat properly. Her work places her at the center of the institution’s everyday operation, even though she is not a CURE field operative.

[2]

Mikulka is cautious with visitors but becomes protective of Mark Howard after he waits patiently to see Smith. When Mark changes from a medical-supplies salesman into Folcroft’s associate director in a day, she is initially unsure what to make of him. She decides to help him feel welcome, comparing his manners with those of her eldest son. That account is her point of view, but it shows how she helps create the close office culture around Smith and his new assistant.
