Cookieless measurement

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page visits and performance, and Google Analytics to measure which pages and features readers use. Analytics cookies and Google's advertising features are disabled worldwide. We do not create a persistent visitor ID or send your search text, form contents, names or email addresses as analytics events.

Google can still receive cookieless measurement pings containing technical and page-activity information. Cookieless does not mean that no information reaches an analytics provider. Our Google measurements omit URL query strings and fragments and reduce referring URLs to their website origin. See Google's consent-mode explanationand Cloudflare's Web Analytics description.

Your browser choices

When your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we do not load either analytics tool. Analytics also stays off in local previews. Your light or dark theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage so we can remember the choice; it is not an analytics identifier. Clearing site storage removes that preference.

Hosting and correspondence

Cloudflare hosts and protects the site. Delivering pages and protecting against abuse involves technical request information such as IP addresses; security services may use essential cookies separately from analytics. Published cover images may be loaded from the credited publishers' servers. If you email us, your email provider and ours process that correspondence.
