Adolf Kluge leads IV, an ultrasecret organization founded by defeated Nazis to pursue a multigenerational Fourth Reich in The Destroyer. Kluge later regards that political goal as impractical and adapts the organization toward financial holdings and survival.

[1]

A pragmatic successor

Kluge cuts some ties to neo-Nazi groups and keeps others as allies, redirecting IV toward finance, technology and survival. Smith eventually exposes the assets that sustain the organization.

[2]

A technology network

Kluge summons Heinrich Kolb, an aging doctor and one of IV’s surviving founders, from the IV village in Argentina. Kolb had worked on eugenics and laboratory genetics. Kluge says IV has worldwide stock holdings and is heavily involved with Platt-Deutsche; he sends Kolb to New York through the company’s American subsidiary.

[3]

London and the collapse of IV

IV’s military campaign brings neo-Nazi forces into London in an attempt to revive the Fourth Reich. Kluge heads IV during the campaign. After Smith exposes the organization’s financial network, Kluge destroys a hard drive, strikes Smith and flees through Europe toward Argentina under an assumed name. Smith later freezes IV’s assets, leaving the organization destitute.

[4]

The Numbers

The Numbers are products of IV’s eugenic project: genetically engineered, identical men raised as soldiers and workers. Kluge ends the laboratory program and keeps the men as a remnant of the organization’s earlier attempt to manufacture a supposedly superior population. By the final campaign, only a small group of Numbers remains.

[5]

Heidi and the treasure

After Smith says the Hoard could provide capital to rebuild IV and that selling it could disrupt Germany’s economy, Kluge leads an expedition with the surviving Numbers and a handful of skinheads. Later he sends the few remaining skinheads to rent trucks and gather more men. Remo reports that the Hoard has been moved and kills Kluge. In the Epilogue, Heidi leads the thirty surviving Numbers as they conceal her share of the treasure.
