Pietro Scubisci

Pietro Scubisci is a New York Mafia leader who attends meetings with other crime families and wields influence in the city in The Destroyer. He is an older, practical capo, attentive to money and wary of spending it. At Dominic Verillio’s funeral he weighs the question of who will lead the organization, showing that his influence extends beyond one local crew.

In later stories, an elderly Don Pietro remains associated with the New York families and Scubisci crime organization. He gives members a hard rule: loyalty to the organization comes before their parents, spouses or children. A Brooklyn crime family later bears his name, and its members seek his approval as they rise within the organization.

A later crisis also targets a figure called the Roman Scubisci as part of a plan to draw the House of Sinanju into the open. The story presents him among a sequence of uncanny appearances, so its details should not be read as an ordinary biography. The recurring New York capo and the later Roman figure share the name, but the novels do not clearly establish every Scubisci as one person.
