Bruce Marmelstein is a film producer and co-chair of Taurus Studios with Hank Bindle in The Destroyer. The pair finance pictures through a connection to a Los Angeles cocaine dealer, using the film business to help move drugs. When a screenwriter discovers the arrangement, Marmelstein protests while Bindle threatens the writer’s career.

A partnership built on rivalry

Marmelstein and Bindle present themselves as “Magic Makers,” but their partnership is marked by competition: they divide their office, react to each other’s projects and maintain different roles in production. Marmelstein is the less creative partner, openly uninterested in reading scripts and focused on commercial returns.

Schemes and death

Remo later credits the pair with helping avert a Middle East crisis. Bindle and Marmelstein pay for a staged Taurus bombing to create publicity, insurance proceeds and higher box-office returns. Their testimony about a White House operation conflicts with their initial account. They die in the aftermath, and Remo later describes Taurus as unstable because the pair had diverted studio property to themselves; litigation by their relatives is expected to continue.
