Benson Dilkes is an assassin whose staged attacks help the private security company Paldor sell protection to political leaders. He appears again as a national assassin drawn into the Sinanju succession contest, a ritual in which the prospective Master faces assassins selected by national rulers.
Protection racket
Dilkes secretly stages credible assassination attempts in countries where Paldor is seeking clients. Leaders frightened by the attacks then hire the company for protection. He says he will leave the operation after learning that Chiun is protecting the U.S. president; the promised departure is not followed in that story.
Sinanju succession contest
Much later, Dilkes is selected as the United States’ contestant in the Time of Succession, a Sinanju ritual involving assassins chosen by national governments. He privately interprets the contest as a means of eliminating those governments’ best assassins so Sinanju can sell its services without competition. Remo learns that the United States selected and paid Dilkes, then kills him during the contest.
In another later report, Dilkes tells Olivier that the older Asian man and the ordinary Caucasian man they encountered were from Sinanju. The conversation does not identify the two men by name.

Source notes
Contextual source review of the recurring Benson Dilkes subject; book-specific observations and uncertainty remain separate.
destroyer-126:benson-dilkes: Both sources use the full name Benson Dilkes. Book 31 depicts Dilkes as a Sinanju-aware assassin who later interacts with Remo at the Secret Service; Book 126 depicts an American retired in Zimbabwe who recognizes the Masters of Sinanju. The name and specific Sinanju connection support a contextual candidate link, while role and chronology merit lead review. Lead inspected the cited current and prior primary contexts; identity alone is consolidated, retaining book-specific scope, roles, variants and conflicting accounts.
