Source notesIdentity and text locators

Both observations refer to a football player named Sayers as a famous example of extraordinary change of direction or speed. Book 006’s reviewed record explicitly flags “Gayle” as the transcription spelling; the source form is retained as an observed alias, not treated as an independently established spelling.

Book 006 names “Gayle Sayers” as a great football player with unusual change of direction (witness:00000015:ch02:p0074).

Book 007 names “Gale Sayers” in a football-speed comparison in the same paragraph as athletes Bob Hayes, Willie Pep, and Muhammad Ali (witness:00000018:ch14:p0066).

Death Therapy

The transcription uses Gayle Sayers. An editorial correction to Gale was removed from aliases because that spelling was not observed in the supplied text; historical identity comparison requires separate evidence.
